How to use the convention library
A bridge convention page should answer more than what the first bid means. It should explain the trigger auction, the follow-up bids, the hand types that belong in the convention, and the mistakes that happen when the partnership remembers only the name.
Start with the convention family that matches the auction you are trying to improve. Notrump pairs usually begin with Stayman, Jacoby Transfers, Texas Transfers, and Puppet Stayman. Major suit partnerships often need Jacoby 2NT, Splinter Bids, Bergen Raises, and Drury.
Convention families
The library is organized around practical auction problems. Slam tools like Blackwood, Roman Key Card Blackwood, and Gerber help decide whether to bid beyond game. Competitive tools like Takeout Double, Negative Double, Michaels Cuebid, and Unusual 2NT help the partnership compete after the opponents open.
Preemptive and interference-heavy methods such as Weak Two Bids, Multi Two Diamonds, and Lebensohl require extra attention because vulnerability, seat, and on/off agreements often matter as much as point count.
Practice after reading
When a Cuebids practice route exists, the convention page links directly to it. Use those practice sessions to see repeated hand types, then return to the article and compare the examples with your own mistakes. For conventions without a mapped practice route yet, build a custom scenario around the trigger auction and keep the first practice set narrow.
For a broader study plan, read about practicing specific bridge bidding topics. If the convention depends heavily on your overall bidding structure, compare it with the System Library before adding it to your card.
