What deal types unlock
The bigger difference between tiers is not the ticket count, it is which situations you can ask the dealer for. Each deal type produces hands that generate a particular auction, and they are marked with the suit symbol of the tier that includes them.
Which ones matter depends entirely on what you are working on. Somebody rehearsing slam auctions and somebody rehearsing defenses to 1NT will want different symbols, and it is worth looking at the list before picking a tier rather than assuming the top one is the answer.

One subscription can cover a pair
Two separate rules do this, and both turn on who starts the session.
- Deal types follow the person who starts
- Whoever creates the session picks from their own tier, and both of you bid whatever they picked. This is not a Heart rule — a Club subscriber starting a session gives their free partner the Club deal types for that session too.
- Tickets follow the person who starts, and only for Heart
- A Heart player who starts the session, or who sends the invitation, covers both seats. A Heart player who was invited covers only their own: the other player still pays full price.
Other ways to get one
Buying it in the store is not the only route, and if one of the others applies to you it is worth knowing before you pay.
- Through a club or a teacher
- A premium group can carry a Heart or Diamond subscription for the members it covers. If your club runs one, you may already have a tier without having bought anything.
- From the app stores or from the web
- A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play and one bought on the web are the same thing. If you somehow end up with more than one, the highest tier is the one that applies.
What a subscription is not needed for
- Bidding with your partner, without advanced robots, on any number of boards.
- Seeing your results, the par contract, and how the field bid.
- Ranked challenges and the Daily and Weekly events, beyond their ticket entry.
- Reading the convention library.
Common questions
Do I need a subscription to use Cuebids?
No. A free account bids with a partner without limit. A subscription adds deal types and the ticket allowance for robot practice.
Do both of us need to subscribe?
No, but it matters who starts the session. Deal types come from whoever created it, at any tier. Tickets are covered for both players only when a Heart subscriber starts it or sends the invitation — a Heart partner who was invited covers only their own seat.
What is the difference between the tiers?
Monthly tickets and which deal types you can use. Diamond adds Lia in events, PDF printing and four-player mode; Heart adds custom scenarios and private groups.
What happens to my tickets if I subscribe mid-month?
Your spent count is cleared straight away, so you get the new tier's full allowance immediately rather than waiting for the first of the month.
Can my club or teacher give me a subscription?
Yes. A premium group can carry a Heart or Diamond subscription for the members it covers, and it applies for as long as you are in the group.
Do tickets I have bought expire?
No. Bought and bonus tickets sit in a separate pool on top of the monthly allowance, and the monthly reset does not touch them.
